Turkon Line shortlisted for CI (Containerisation International) Regional Ocean Carrier of the Year Award

Turkon Line (UK) is pleased to announce we have been shortlisted in the 'Regional Carrier of the Year' section of the CI (Containerisation International) awards 2011.

Please see below for press release from CI (Containerisation International):

CI Awards announces further shortlist
by John Fossey

The volatile trading nature of the past three years - from bust to boom and 'almost' back to bust - has tested liner shipping companies in the extreme and particularly over the past 12 months. Their resilience, innovative ways of thinking and sheer resolve to survive were reflected in the many entries received for CI's coveted 'Global Ocean Carrier of the Year' and 'Regional Carrier of the Year' awards.

'There was not much to choose between them,' said Tom Boardley, marine director of UK-based Lloyd's Register. 'These two sectors were highly competitive and coming up with a shortlist for each was very difficult.'

CI's awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence in the container shipping industry. In the case of these two categories entrants were asked to demonstrate how over the past year they had responded to changing market conditions, differentiated their services from the competition and put in place environmentally-friendly operations.

The two latest shortlists comprise:

Global Ocean Carrier of the Year
APL
CMA CGM
Hyundai Merchant Marine
Maersk Line

Regional Ocean Carrier of the Year
ANL
Delmas
Safmarine
Turkon Line

The winners from the shortlists and the lifetime achievement award which will be nominated by CI's editorial team will be announced at a gala luncheon at 8, Northumberland Avenue, central London, on October 13, 2011.

Tunis service - Re-instated

Turkon Line are pleased to announce our serivce to Tunis has been re-instated.

Due to increasing costs incurred by our feeder operator, we will have to apply a congestion surcharge to all shipments to Tunis.

The operations in Rades are being affected beyond normal conditions, and all feedering services are suffering under these circumstances. For example our last vessel had an extended stay in Rades of 12 days, and on her next call she is expected to be berthed for no less than 8 days.

Once the situation in Tunis gets back to normal, we will be waiving this surcharge.

We regret any inconvenience caused due to the longer port stays in Tunis.

Congestion Surcharge will be charges as follows:

GBP 40 / TEU
EUR 50 / TEU
USD 75 / TEU
